‘Women are not playing diverse roles on TV’
From playing the girl-next-door in Kasauti Zindagi Kay to be the first female winner of Bigg Boss 4, Shweta Tiwari has come a long way. But the actress isn’t happy with how female leads are portrayed in Hindi TV shows. “What I see is that women are not portraying too many characters or shades on screen. They are playing sweet, simple and nice roles. That is the only thing they do until they play a negative role,” she says. “If you see Balika Vadhu she is the same. Byaah Hamari Bahu Ka is also the same. No one is doing anything different,” she said. The actress, who plays a strict mom Sweety, in the TV show Parvarish, however, says that her character Sweety is one of the few different female leads left on television. Priya gets a new name When we heard that the Bade Acche Lagte Hain crew will be shooting in Dubai, we wondered if that meant Priya Kapoor (Sakshi Tanwar) will move to there. Now we’ve heard for sure that not only will Priya relocate to Dubai with her young daughter, but she’ll also meet Rajat Kapoor (Sameer Kocchar). That’s not all. Priya’s ex-husband Ram will also be in Dubai. But there’ll be a hitch in Ram’s attempts to find her since Priya will now call herself Parineeti!
